Universal Guitar Brace Contouring System
After extensive re-design we are now able to offer our “Universal Guitar Brace Contour
System”. The original versions of these units were based on the use of a router table
fitted with a bearing guided bit. We found that using the device was little intimidating,
also if not used properly, one ran the risk of damaging the brace material beyond
repair. The new “UGBCS” uses a 2” diameter bearing guided sanding drum
(not
included) fitted with 50 grit abrasive. (A DRILL PRESS IS REQUIRED)

The “UGBCS” comes with five interchangeable templates 12’ – 15” – 20’ – 28’ and 40’
radius. Other sizes are also available. Switching the templates is accomplished by
simply loosening the bolts and sliding the template in place. The template can be set to
accommodate any height brace.

The unique clamping design allows the user to load and process just about any size
material. It makes no difference whether you are making the flat 3/8 x ¾ Martin style
back brace or the very small ½ x ¼ Gibson style back brace. Adjusting and loading is
done in a matter of seconds!
This device yields a perfectly contoured brace. As it should be, the gluing surface is
absolutely flat. We have found that rubbing a brace on a dish/disk tends rounds over
the edges and makes it impossible to bring the brace in contact with the top or back
along the critical glue line.
Simply guide the fixture against the drum sander bearing keeping steady pressure
and the results will a perfectly ready to glue contoured brace. It is not necessary but
since we have the equipment we speed the process even more by rough cutting the
contour on one of our band saws.
The “Universal Guitar Brace Contour System” for the first time affords the small shop
and serious hobbyist; a way to safely, efficiently and inexpensively, produces the
highest quality guitar braces with virtually
no size restrictions.
